Sustainable Materials
There are a multitude of ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home or premises using sustainable materials and methods. In addition to installing renewable energy systems like solar panels and air source heat pumps , or new windows, updating insulation via floor, roof and wall applications will radically improve the performance and comfort of your building.
-
Sustainable insulation
Depending on the size and scope of your installation, you will get back your project costs via savings within 4-7 years post installation. Adding additional elements such as hot water valves in warmer months in conjunction with an air source heat pump and you will see greater savings and energy efficiencies.

Simple and effective
In the UK the housing stock is old and in most cases we will need to improve the quality of what we have as opposed to building new. By using simple techniques that improve the external elements of your home (ground floor, roof, external walls) including using sustainable insulative materials, applied in a way that optimises the thermal efficiency of your home, excellent results can be achieved with a relatively low cost.
-
Climate change & Net Zero
Whatever we believe about Climate change, it is undoubtedly in our collective best interests to reduce our use of fossil fuels, and make our homes naturally more efficient, thereby requiring less energy. Installing systems that improve the energy or thermal efficiency of our home or business will enable us all to do our part but perhaps more importantly will also give us control over spiralling energy costs.
-
Recycled and sustainable materials
Wood fibre, hemp, grass are all sources or 100% sustainable and carbon negative insulation. Cork and lime based plasters, external insulation using recycled polystyrene are also fantastic and readily available materials we can use to enhance our homes.
-
No Tax (VAT)
For the application of insulation to improve the energy efficiency of the existing parts of a home, there is 0% VAT to pay for supply or installation. This also extends to renewable energy installatons such as solar and heat pumps. The Zero rate for VAT also applies to new build homes.
-
Ventilation & damp control
Ventilation, extraction and damp controls are an essential part of any building project but can all too often be overlooked, leading to problems with lack of clean air, build up of damp and unhealthy mould.

Achieving the right temperature
Warm in winter, not too warm in Summer, that’s the goal. In the UK we struggle to manage the need for heating a building in cooler months with strategies to ensure we don’t overheat in the warmer months. Every year we hear stories of freezing cold in winter and the cost of energy and unbearable heat in summertime. You can achieve a home with the right levels of thermal comfort any time of year.
